Below I've listed some common questions that people might have (particularly those who are new in the ways of DLC)
I'll be adding more questions as time goes on, so check back often.
Q:What is DLC?
A: DLC stands for Downloadable Content. DLC can be anything from a classic arcade game, to a movie or TV show, to a game add-on (bonus maps in a first-person shooter, for example) and more!
Q:What's with the points system used on the Xbox 360 and Wii? And how much money is each point worth?
A: Well, I am not sure why the points system is used in lieu of actual monetary amounts. But, I can tell you that 100 Wii Points is equal to $1.00 (US). For some reason, Microsoft decided to get tricky and made 100 Microsoft Points equal to $1.25 (US).
Q:What are examples of the different kinds of downloadable content?
A: There are 5 different categories that we currently classify DLC under on the site. Arcade/Classic games are ones that have appeared in the arcade, appeared on an another (older) console/PC, or are adapted from board games. Original Games are just that: games that were specifically designed as downloadable content for the given console. Game Add-ons are pieces of downloadable content that enhance a standard console game that you'd purchase. An example might be a new map for a first person shooter game or a new downloadable song to play in Rock Band. Themes/Wallpapers/etc covers the themes and wallpapers that can be used to spruce up the look and feel of the dashboard or navigation system of your console. This category also includes gamer pictures for Xbox 360 users. The gamer picture is what displays when someone looks up your account on Xbox Live. Movies/TV Shows is fairly self-explanatory. It's any movie or TV show that can be downloaded to your console's hard drive.
Q:How often (and when) does new content come out?
A: The short answer is: it depends. Xbox Live Arcade games typically come out every Wednesday. Virtual Console and WiiWare games (for the Nintendo Wii) come out on Mondays. Most Playstation 3 content (games and themes) come out on Fridays. Some specific DLC (like Rock Band songs) come out on their own schedule (every Tuesday for Xbox 360, every Thursday for Playstation 3). Every week, there's more content being added to each of the consoles, so keep checking back often.
Q:Why do you not list game demos and game trailers on your site?
A: The main reason for this is that we don't believe that there's a high demand for this content to be indexed on the site. If you believe that this content should be on All DLC, drop us a line and let us know. If we receive enough interest in it, it can be done.
